“We heard about RainWise, and loved the idea of a rain garden in our front yard. Steve from Seattle Rain Gardens was our contractor. We decided that we wanted to do the design ourselves because there was a special tree that we wanted to salvage. We also wanted to ensure that the rain garden had interest all year long. Steve was a great collaborator and his team was wonderful – just ask our kids or dog! It was really enjoyable, easy, and we managed to fit it into our busy family life.

When the project was nearly done, we asked Steve to help us address the small river that formed on our sidewalk. Steve’s team was flexible and gave us a few ideas on how we could direct the water into the planting strip. They removed some old plants and created a small area that could absorb more water during heavy rains and now the sidewalk is less of a hazard.

We used a variety of online and nursery resources to find the right plants; our contractor sourced and planted them.
