World Water Day – Mar 22
Everyone has a role to play
World Water Day, held annually on March 22, is a United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater. This year marks the 27th year for this national event. The theme for 2020 is climate change.
Preserving water can help fight climate change:
💧Vegetation protects against flooding and erosion.
💧Rainwater can be stored for dry periods.
💧Wastewater can be reused for industrial and municipal purposes.
Everyone can do something to preserve water & fight climate change. Choose one thing today:
💧Take a five minute shower or turn off the running water while you lather.
💧Install a water cistern.
💧Plant a rain garden.
💧Shop for local goods instead of ones that are shipped across the country or world.
Adapting to the water effects of climate change will protect health and save lives. Using water more efficiently will reduce greenhouse gases. We cannot afford to wait. Everyone has a role to play.
