U.W. Botanic Gardens Workshop: Summer Pruning of Trees and Shrubs – July 27

8:30AM – 12PM

Summer Pruning of Trees and Shrubs

Summer is an excellent time, even the preferred time, for pruning certain plants. Some plant species are prone to vigorous water sprouting, excessive regrowth, or diseases if pruned before mid-summer. Generally, pruning in mid-summer is done to remove water sprouts, prevent heavy sucker growth, and to control a plant’s size. In this outdoor demonstration class you will learn what, why, and how to prune in summer.
