Free Letters Home now at the Whittier Heights Tiny House Village
A letter home. That could be the first small step to reconnecting homeless individuals with their loved ones, to re-establish a relationship long neglected, or simply to say “I’m ok”. This is the goal of Free Letters Home™, a Sustainable Ballard project that has been operating since July of 2013 on the second Tuesday evening of each month at Nyer Urness House.
Now we have added a new opportunity — every other Tuesday @ 3:30pm at the Whittier Heights Tiny House Village. Starting August 27th, Free Letters Home™ is now at at the WH Tiny House Village with pens and paper, cards and stationary, envelopes and stamps — everything one needs to send a note, letter or postcard to a friend, relative or loved one. Upcoming dates:
Sept 10 & 24, Oct 8 & 22, Nov 5 & 19, and Dec 3 & 17.
How can I help?
VOLUNTEER:
We need 1 or 2 additional volunteers in both locations:
For second Tues eve at Nyer Urness, contact Bev.
For every other Tues afternoons at WH Tiny House Village, contact Andrea.
DONATE CARDS:
While we are happy to take any card donations, Free Letters could specifically use more cards for sympathy/loss, get well, and then Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas or “Happy Holidays.” Postcards of Washington/Seattle are also popular. We have plenty of blank cards/envelopes and birthday cards.
If you would like to donate cards, please contact Andrea.
