Town Hall: Per Espen Stoknes – How (Not) To Build Support for Climate Policy – May 7

6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7
DETAILS

In anticipation of next December’s climate change talks in France, President Obama recently pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 28%, but according to psychologist Per Espen Stoknes, collective societal opinion will also be crucial to reverse current environmental trends. InWhat We Think About When We Try Not to Think About Global Warming, Stoknes explores why we think the way we think–focusing on the climate change deniers among us–and highlights key factors that contribute to people’s disbelief of the subject. He’ll offer advice on how to change people’s minds (by sharing stories of economic, environmental, and personal growth that come from reversing global warming) and outline his plan to turn optimism action for a better future.
