Seattle Tilth Class: Urban Weeds and Wild Foods – Part 1: Identify and Harvest – Apr 16

Urban WeedsWhy fight weeds when you can eat them! Learn how to identify and gather some of our city’s most common and delicious edible weeds and wild foods.In this workshop we will:
·         Discuss safety issues, gathering ethics, local rules and regulations
·         Tour the grounds to identify and gather seasonal weeds such as nettles, dandelion, burdock, plantain and chickweed
·         Introduce general uses of plants gathered

This class will consist of a lengthy tour of the grounds with some harvesting.  Please dress for the weather and messy garden activities. Bringing a camera to take photos of plants is recommended.

This is the first class in a two-part series. Join us for Urban Weeds and Wild Foods — Part 2: Preparing for Your Table, offered later in the afternoon for a hands-on cooking workshop. It is recommended, but not required to take both.
