For over twenty years, Northwest Earth Institute has helped people turn belief into action by creating communities of change. It starts with a discussion group … a group of 8-12 people who share stories about the way they live, work, create and consume.
“Action on the environment comes from thinking about it — it comes from real conversations about real facts, our real lives, our real hopes. Northwest Earth Institute is one of those places that make those conversations happen, and that’s why they’re a vital part of the change we need to see.”
~ Bill McKibben, founder, 350.org
This fall, Sustainable Ballard is putting together a group to discuss the recently updated “Choices for Sustainable Living“.
What is the “Choices for Sustainable Living” course book about? Sustainability is a complex and contested concept, but at its essence represents the hope for a healthy, just and bright future for us all. “Choices for Sustainable Living” provides an opportunity to move beyond the hype to explore sustainability more deeply. The course focuses less on defining sustainability than envisioning sustainability – what would a sustainable world look like? And how can we create it together?
Interested in learning more? Check out the NWEI website. If you think you might want to join us this fall, email Margaret and let her know which evenings work for you to meet: Sunday, Monday and/or Tuesday. We’ll put the group together starting in early October on the day that works best for the participants. There are eight sessions in the course. The group will decide if we will meet once each week and finish up before the holidays, or meet every other week and finish up in January.
Let’s discover change together.
