Seeking Sustainable Ballard Menders

Mending is a key part of sustainability, reducing both waste and puchases. For people without many resources, menders can be a sign of community support.  Since the new Ballard Food Bank opened and for quite a while before that at other sites, Jody Grage has mended clothing, pack straps, etc. for homeless and low-income clients once a week.  Now Jody will lead a new project – Sustainable Ballard Menders – since she will be out of town more frequently now.

The initial project for SB Menders will be supplementing the availability of mending services at the Ballard Food Bank on Tuesdays from 11-1 where work space and a sewing machine are already available.  As the pool of menders increases, other sites may be added.

Interested?  Want to know more?  Need some help developing your mending skills before you feel ready to participate?  Contact Jody at 206-718-1529.
