Please join Bike Works + Cascade Bicycle Club on Saturday, November 20th for a free, no-drop, all-ages community ride in honor of the late great Marshall “Major” Taylor’s birthday coming up on November 26th. In 1899, Taylor was the first African American to win a world championship in cycling.
Meet: at 11 AM at the Bike Works Bike Shop for coffee & mini pies from Baked from the Hart*
Ride: at 12 PM for an 11.3 mile, 428 ft elevation gain South End loop. This ride is all-ages, no-drop, and rain or shine!
Celebrate: from 1 – 3 PM outside the Bike Works shop for for pizza generously donated by Pagliacci + beverages
Bring: mask, helmet, water bottle, lights, rain gear, and a bike lock (limited bike parking will be available on-site).
*Why pie?! Major Taylor was known to say “don’t eat pie,” meaning don’t slack off, give it your all. We are ironically eating pie to fuel up for our commemorative ride in his honor!
