“Read in Color” Action Book Club
Read a book, then take action!
We believe that books can inspire you to make the world a better place—starting in your own neighborhood!
Sustainable Ballard is joining Little Free Library’s program to amplify diverse voices at a grassroots, community level. In a twist on the traditional book club, Little Free Library’s Action Book Club™ combines reading and community service. Participants read books on timely topics, engage in lively discussions, and take part in meaningful—and fun—group service projects to benefit their communities. This is reading and social engagement at its best.
The Ballard Action Book Club will meet by Zoom on the first Tuesday evening of every month starting in June, and discuss a different book each month. You don’t have to finish (or even start) a book to join the discussion. Just have an interest in the topic and want to learn more and take action. We will tackle a different book each month.
Join us for the next meetings:
August 3, 2021 – “So You Want to Talk about Race” by Ijeoma Oluo
September 7, 2021 – “Caste” by Isabel Wilkerson
October 5, 2021 – TBD
November 2, 2021 – TBD
December 7, 2021 – TBD
We hope to share our experiences online, and help to start a ripple effect of positive activity across the country and around the world.
