Pint-Sized Science: Pollution in Puget Sound – June 27
Hosted by Puget Soundkeeper Alliance
Tuesday, June 27, 7pm-9pm; The Leary Traveler, 4354 Leary Way NW
Come and learn about the evolution of pollution in Puget Sound! While our waterways are teeming with beauty, lurking under the surface are hot spots of contamination that scientists and regulators are working to remove. There are new concerns arising all the time as new products are developed and enter the waterways through wastewater treatment plants and storm water drains and runoff. Three fantastic presenters will take you through the early days of contamination to learning about emerging concerns. The evening will end with information on meaningful individual actions you can take to reduce your impact and protect our shared waterways for future generations.
Speakers:
Dr. Tracy Collier, NOAA NWFSC (retired)
Sandra O’Neill, WA Dept of Fish and Wildlife
Dr. Andy James, UW-Tacoma Center for Urban Waters
