Join us each Friday for Black Lives Matter Solidarity
We encourage everyone to join us from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. every Friday at the corner of NW 65th and 15th NW by Ballard High School to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter. Make your own and/or bring your signs.
Despite measured support from Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now for the City of Seattle budget, we are encouraging folks to continue with Friday Night Protests in light of the injustices that continue throughout the country. We are putting the continuation of Friday Night Protests into the public’s hands. As long as there are Ballard residents who feel the need to protest, we’ll be there to support you. However, because of weather, we won’t be setting up an info table through the winter. We’ll continue to send updates to our BLM Protests mailing list as we learn of relevant news.
This is a marathon (or maybe a relay race), so please sub in whenever you can. Bring signs that express the demands of the movement (e.g. “#DefundThePolice”, Invest in Black Communities, “#BlackLivesMatter”, etc.) Please tweet and share this event with your network.
PLEASE WEAR MASKS & FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES. We can spread out from 65th and 15th for space. Do NOT attend if you are sick, exhibiting symptoms, or if you believe you have come into contact with someone who had COVID-19.
This event is organized to give Ballard neighbors an opportunity to come together and express our solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. It is not intended to compete with other actions and protests around Seattle. But it will provide an opportunity for those who may be unable to participate in those actions to make their voices heard… and to begin organizing further solidarity actions in our neighborhood. If you cannot join us in person, make noise and let people know you care from home!
