YOU can help feed our community by filling up a U-Pick Harvest Box with the fruit grown in your backyard!
From our friends at City Fruit:
If you prefer to pick your own fruit but still want to donate some of the fruit that you picked to a local food bank, then the U-Pick Harvest Box is for you.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic City Fruit’s harvest crew is going to be smaller than usual this year, which unfortunately means that we won’t get to as many households as usual. Requesting a U-Pick Harvest Box and filling it up yourself will be the easiest and most guaranteed way to make sure the fruit grown in your backyard will be enjoyed by those in our community who needs it most.
How does it Work?
- Click on this link to request U-Pick Boxes. Our harvest crew will drop them at your home in 3-4 business days.
- Pick your fruit* and fill up the boxes!
- Notify the harvest crew by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we will pick up your fruit within 48 hours.
Don’t wait until the fruit starts to drop to the ground! Please request your U-Pick Box at least 1 week before the fruit starts ripening to allow enough time for the box delivery and make sure that the fruit is still in good condition when we deliver it to a food bank.
*Due to the extra time required to drop off and pick up the boxes, we will only accept fruit varieties with longer shelf lives such as apples, European Pears, Asian Pears, quince, persimmons and kiwis.
