Ballard Menders

Mending services at the Ballard Food Bank on Thursdays from 11-1 where work space and a sewing machine are already available. As the pool of menders increases, other sites may be added. Mending is a key part of sustainability, reducing both waste and purchases. For people without many resources, menders can be a sign of community support.

Since the new Ballard Food Bank opened and for quite a while before that at other sites, Jody Grage has mended clothing, pack straps, etc. for homeless and low-income clients once a week. Now Jody will lead a new project – Ballard Menders – since she will be out of town frequently.
