As we close out 2019, Free Letters Home has served almost 100 people with more than 600 cards and postcards, and 300 stamps. This small, but important project is making a positive impact on the lives of the vulnerable population in Ballard by helping them establish new – or reestablish broken – relationships in their lives.
Beyond handing out cards, our volunteers at the Whittier Tiny Houses helped the residents make Christmas Tree ornaments; and at Nyer Urness our staff was the recipient of a Christmas Card from one of the residents.
We thank the members of Sustainable Ballard for their support and generous donations of cards and stamps that keeps our project costs to zero. Thanks to our Andrea, Diana and Jody – our faithful volunteers.
We invite members to join our team for 2020. The commitment is two hours, once a month; the challenge is to step out of your comfort zone, meet these folks where they are, and give the gift of your time.
