St John’s Episcopal Church

114 20th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501, USA

Description:  Audubon’s authentic, bi-partisan voice means that we can work across the aisle and build durable policies that benefit birds and people. Your voice is needed in Olympia!

With a broad coalition of groups in the 2018 legislative session, Audubon Washington is calling on our elected officials to support a 100% Clean Energy Standard. Passage of this policy would set the state on a path toward 100% clean energy by 2050, including the phasing out of coal from Washington’s utility rates by 2030. It would also make Washington a true climate leader as the first state in the country to ban new gas for electricity generation. The policy would achieve an approximately 70 percent reduction in electricity-sector carbon emissions by 2035, and full decarbonization of Washington’s electricity sector, the second largest source of state emissions, by the 2040s.

What to expect at Lobby Day:

  • Training – Learn from experts about the benefits of a 100% clean energy standard and how to make a compelling case to your state representatives.
  • Meetings with Elected Officials – Meet face-to-face with your representatives in the legislature and share your support for climate action and why it’s important to you. We will set up all meetings – you just need to come!
  • Fellowship – Meet people who share your concerns and are committed to building a sustainable world – one where birds and people thrive. Network and make new friends.

Agenda and issue papers available soon. Lunch will be provided.

With a powerful coalition of organizations standing together,  we can build political will and momentum for climate action this session. Be part of the solution. Join us and our friends in Olympia as we work toward a sustainable future for all.
