@ the fest – Help us make Apple Cider!

That’s right! Our old favorite, the cider press will be up and running! Always a popular attraction, we offer a chance to learn how to make cider on an old fashioned human powered cider press. First we sterilize the apples and load them in the hopper. A few cranks on the flywheel and freshly chopped fruit is loaded into the basket. Once the basket is full, a heavy disc is placed on top and the fruit is pressed until the juice flows. Get a chance to taste the sweet resulting cider at the end of the process. If you’d really like to be a part of the process, bring excess apples or pears from your own tree! They can be small or scarred and still make great cider.

Special thanks to sponsors New Roots Organics and Collins Family Orchards for donating apples for us to press.
