Our 2nd Annual Spring Beer Hop was a Hit!

THANK YOU to everyone who participated, volunteered and hosted this year’s Spring Beer Hop! We had so much fun together with you all throughout the Ballard Brewery District this past Saturday in honor of Earth Day. This year’s event sold out the Friday afternoon prior so be sure to put it on your calendars for next year so you don’t miss out. Despite a power outage that impacted a few of the breweries and every type of weather Spring could throw at us everyone appeared to enjoy the event.

This event is our Spring FUNdraiser and serves to share out our many on-going Sustainable Ballard projects and events. We had project leads and volunteers from our Bakery Gleaning, Tool Library, Edible Garden Tour, Knitters for the Homeless, Idle Free Ballard, and Free Letters Home. It was a blast sharing info with Spring Beer Hoppers about what we do, why we do it and let them know how to get involved. We look forward to seeing some of you at upcoming projects and events!

We are grateful to our amazing community sponsors and brewery hosts! Seven Breweries joined us for this year’s event including: Bickersons, Distant West, Fair Isle, Hildegard, Obec, Old Stove Gardens and Stoup. These are all fantastic breweries who make great beer and care about the community! Be sure to check them out or return to ones you enjoyed while on the Hop.

Our community sponsors this year were: Electric Folding Bikes NW which is a great local bike shop that provides rentals, sales, service, accessories and even parts to keep you pedaling. Got friends/family in town? Rent some electric bikes and pedal out to the Locks or Shilshole! PCC Ballard  is the first Living Building Challenge (LBC) Petal Certified grocery store in the world. Don’t forget to check out their beer, wine, & spirits department for all your Spring picnic supplies. Need advice? Ask for Ben! Stamp Act Coffee makes some of the best small batch coffee in town and soon you may even be able to grab a cup to go directly from them. Can you name all 7 hills on their logo? Kiss Cafe is home to “Ballard’s Drinking Team” and in addition to delicious sandwiches, wraps, and soups offers breakfast ALL day! This is the perfect spot to grab some provisions and head out to the beach. Also, remember to bring in your hop wristband for $1 off a beer! Ballard FC is a hyper-local soccer club that allows Ballard and non-Ballard residents alike to celebrate their city within a city. Representing a neighborhood with a unique pride of place, Ballard FC is a team we can root for! Thanks again to each and everyone who helped make our 2nd Annual Spring Beer Hop a successful day of growing community! Cheers!
