Meet Olivia

New Board Member and Scandinavia Enthusiast!

WHY DID YOU JOIN SUSTAINABLE BALLARD?
Sustainable Ballard first came onto my radar when I moved back to the neighborhood in the summer of 2020, and I have really enjoyed getting to know new neighbors while participating in market gleaning and Black Lives Matter gatherings. The COVID crisis has really illuminated the need for mutual aid programs and has emphasized how important it is to support our neighbors who need care, especially when other systems may be failing them.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF SUSTAINABLE BALLARD?
Almost 1 year

WHAT PROJECT(S) ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN?
Market Gleaning
Black Lives Matter
Board of Directors

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A MEMBER?
I have always been interested in organizational management, and would love to use my skillset to support an organization like Sustainable Ballard that is doing this vital work while simultaneously building community. As a graduate student with a lot of friends and connections living in the Ballard area, I would also hope to introduce many new people to Sustainable Ballard’s work!
