Festival + Pants = A Book

We have lots to report from the Little Free Library Project.

First, a big shout out of thanks to Susan Gilmore, Alex Montes, Melissa Knapp and Deb Godfrey, all of whom scouted Ballard for our updated map of Ballard’s Little Free Libraries — our 5th edition! Ballard is a great neighborhood to explore on foot, especially with so many boxes and books to check out.

Summer is an especially busy time for reading, and come fall many Little Free Libraries are low on books, so we will be giving out books to replenish many of the boxes.

We will also be offering a free book to anyone who brings a pair of gently used men’s pants to the Festival! The pants will be given to The Bridge Care Center, a drop-in center for men and women experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in the Ballard area. BCC offers clothing through a voucher system to their clients, and the program is chronically low on men’s jeans and work pants.

So bring a pair of men’s pants (or two pair! or three!) to the St. Luke’s table at the Festival, put the pants you wish to donate into the bin, then head on over to the Little Free Library display in the Sustainable Ballard booth, and pick out a book to take for your fall reading.

See you at the Festival! Saturday, September 28th, 11am to 4pm in Ballard Commons Park.
