Celebrating the 16th Annual Edible Garden Tour

This year’s Edible Garden Tour included a great variety of gardens, new and established, shady or sunny, ornamental and utilitarian but fruitful either way. Everyone was able to get inspiration for how to grow more of their own food. About 265 visitors came through the 19 gardens this year.

A few highlights included 90 plots at the Ballard P-Patch, a host with over a dozen types of tomato plants, large pollinator gardens, and a first year gardener investigating why certain plants were thriving or stunted. Hosts showed how their gardens progressed over the years. Multiple gardeners had entirely done away with their lawns, completely mulching with wood chips or gravel (or both!) so they could focus on growing edible plants instead of mowing, weeding, and watering.

Thank you to all the hosts who let the community visit their garden for the day! And a big shout out to all our volunteers, it takes a large team to make this happen. Also, congratulations to our raffle winners this year, Maggie, Alex, Pearl, Rachel, Lynn and Jeannine! They brought home an assortment of gifts from this year’s generous local sponsors.

Next year’s tour will be in June 2026 in Southwest Ballard – let Alyssa know if you’re interested in being a garden host. You can take a look at all the Volunteer opportunities here!

We look forward to seeing you all next year!
