Please join us Monday evenings as a community practicing Mindfulness Based Meditation & Movement.

Mindfulness has been defined as the moment-to-moment awareness, without judgement, of one's body sensations, thoughts and emotions. Mindfulness practices integrated into our daily lives free us from habitual responses to physical, emotional and relational pain. We can then more fully experience the wonders and mystery of life in the present.

Monday evening's meditation schedule is as follows: 20" Mindfulness based meditation (with opening instruction) 20" Mindful movement or walking meditation 5-10" Mindfulness practice dharma talk 10" closing or loving-kindness meditation. No prior meditation experience necessary. Drop-ins always welcome.

April & May's classes will focus on exploring some of the Foundations of Mindfulness: non-judgement (4/13), patience (4/20), trust (4/27), acceptance (5/4), non-striving (5/11), beginner's mind (5/18), letting-go (5/25).

Suggested donation per class: $10.00; $30.00 per 4-week series. No one turned away for inability to pay. ALL DONATIONS FOR THE MONTHS OF APRIL & MAY WILL BE OFFERED TO THE BALLARD FOOD BANK.

Teacher: Carol Jakus, MA, MSW, LICSW, is a Seattle based Contemplative Psychotherapist. She also teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in both community and health care settings. Her meditation practice is based in Zen and Vipassana traditions.
