Meet Shanon!

Board Game Innovator

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF SB?
3 years

WHY DID YOU JOIN SB?
I love the idea of reducing consumption (and building community) through borrowing, lending, repairing and reusing. Sustainable Ballard offers a lot of cool ways to do that (like the Tool Library and the Board Game and Puzzle Swap!).

WHAT PROJECT(S) ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN?
Board Game & Puzzle Swap

WHAT WAS THE FIRST SB EVENT/PROGRAM YOU ATTENDED?
A few years ago, I signed up for a discussion group for the Northwest Earth Institute’s A Different Way: Living Simply in a Complex World. I met other members of Sustainable Ballard and joined in discussions over the course of several months about how to “live simply so that others could simply live.” The idea for the Board Game and Puzzle Swap was born from those discussions.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A MEMBER OF SB?
I love the variety of programs that Sustainable Ballard supports and that it’s easy to get involved. You can volunteer with a team that interests you, attend an event, join a discussion, and, if you have an idea for a community project or program that has a sustainability-focus, you could spearhead it!
