The Second Annual Sustainable Ballard Fair
One block north of Ballard Farmer's Market, at the intersections of NW Market Street, 22nd Ave NW and NW Leary Way
Bergen Place and Marvin's Garden Parks
The fair will be "green-powered!" We've purchased all the power we'll need from the City of Seattle's Green Power program!
Sustainable Ballard is taking our always playful education, advocacy, and outreach to the streets! Sustainable Ballard is a non-profit organization comprised of inventive, interesting neighbors who firmly believe that community self-reliance and sustainability is good foreign policy implemented locally.
Sustainability Panel Discussions will feature Cecile Andrews (Phinney Eco-Village), Jayson Antonoff (Int'l Sustainable Solutions), Pam Burton (Solar Washington), Mary Embleton (Cascade Harvest Coalition), Jody Haug (Nat'l Green Party VP), Diane Horn (KEXP "Mind Over Matters" program), Jim Jensen (Groundswell NW), Patrick Mazza (Climate Solutions), Kelda Miller (Seattle Permaculture Guild), Diane Sugimura (Seattle Department of Planning and Design/Sustainability), and Laurel Tomchick (EnviroStars), and many others!
Information and practical demonstrations on transportation, home energy, water, waste, gardening and community activism. Organizations include NW Biodiesel, Ballard HS Biodiesel Club, Bikesport, Environmental Home Center, Puget Sound Solar, ReStore, Seattle Tilth, City Chickens, Mangrove Action Plan, Environmental Works, Best Paints, Ballard CC 4-H, and Sustainable Ballard: Ballard Neighbors Modeling Sustainable Community Choices!
And, we're pleased to present Sarah Ruth van Gelder, editor of Yes! Magazine, as a speaker addressing the topic of "A Positive Future."
This is a casual, fun, and free event, and is open to the public. No registration required. Bring kids! Bring neighbors! Learn more about eco-friendly choices that are readily available in and around Ballard.
We would also like to introduce the recently completed Green Seattle Guide, 101 actions for a Healthy Urban Environment, from the City of Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment. ^ TOP
