Because we define a ‘Sustainable Community’ as one where all residents get their basic needs met, Sustainable Ballard joins other Ballard civic organizations, churches, service providers, advocates and concerned residents, as well as city agencies, in the Ballard Community Taskforce on Homelessness and Hunger (BCTHH), to address the needs of our community’s most vulnerable members.
The Taskforce meets once a month, on the fourth Thursday of each month at Nyer Urness House (unless otherwise specified). The meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
More information including date for future meetings and related articles can be found at BCTHH’s Facebook page.
There are lots of ways to get involved:
- Attend a monthly meeting at Nyer Urness House (watch our event calendar)
- Donate household items for Nyer Urness House residents (brooms, dust pans, dish soap, sponges, towels, toiletries, ice trays, small skillets, medium pots with lids can be donated directly or through Orna)
- Join the Taskforce mailing list (contact Orna)

Mission of the Taskforce: The BCTHH works to end homelessness and hunger in the Ballard community by providing a forum for service providers, community advocates and governmental agencies to share information, capitalize on their collective resources and coordinate efforts. We will work as advocates of change and partners of compassion toward a just and supportive community.
